Sweat Lodge Teachings
Jun. 2nd, 2008 11:38 amSweat Lodge was quite amazing. I have never felt better or more clear-headed, especially about what's important and what isn't. There's really nothing quite like it - the immediacy and realness of it is something I tried to create in the services I wrote for last High Holidays, but only succeeded to a much smaller degree.
The idea is only in its infancy, but I may one day want to run a Jewish sweat lodge. Very little would be different - just substituting a shofar for the flute, and using different songs. Joe / Buffalo Heart, who runs the lodges at Four Quarters, might be willing to help me with this if I ask him. I feel I should learn some more about the ceremony as it is first, though.
I'm leaning toward doing a vision quest for Yom Kippur this year, or sometime during the Days of Awe at least.
